Today, I want to share with all of you about Islam and Sustainable Development.
As we all know that, there are several verses in the Qur'an telling about the importance of caring for the environment and the responsibility as a human being to the environment. this makes that. This makes that Sustainable Development is not a new thing n this world. As human beings have been entrusted to take care of this environment because it can also give benefit to all of us. For example, if we keep the environment clean, we will get fresh air.
This concept can be explained by the balance between environmental, social, and economic. The basis for taking care of all these things is by maintaining a relationship with God, a relationship with the environment, and human relationships. These three relationships are very important to take care of so that we can maintain and develop the environment.
I want to share my experience with the program that I participated in when I was studying at UIA GAMBANG which is my center for foundation studies. At first, I don't want to join but my friends persuaded me to join it. So, I thought why not we try a new thing because before this I never join a program that related to village people and nature. We went to the fishing village.
On that day, I am so excited because my friends and I work together to clean and collect garbage at the seaside. Moreover, we get acquainted with the villagers. They are very friendly. While collecting the rubbish, there is one uncle chatting with us and he said, he is so sad looking at the state of the beach like this so dirty and not kept clean. After the communal work, he is so grateful there are other associations that are willing to work together to clean up the beach area. The beach is a grace that Allah gives to us to keep it clean so we need to do the right thing.
